Australian Zebra Finches
Zebra Finches have a unique vocalisation using beeping noises and high pitched quiet noises to communicate with each other, both genders are able to produce about 10 different calls. They get their name because of their plumage on the chest, rump and upper tail. They also have a tear drop marking on their face which is an identifying feature.
Range
These birds have a wide range, being found and are native to Australia, Indonesia and Timor.
Diet
They mainly feast on seeds and can be seen eating insects too when travelling in their large flocks.
Lifespan
Zebra Finches live to be around 2-3 in the wild but in captivity they can reach from 5-15 years due to less predation and more food availability.
Conservation status
They are of a least concern in the wild and there is no known threat to the wild population that is known at current.
