Meet our Common Marmosets
The Common Marmoset is a small primate which can be found around South America, despite their small size they are still a monkey species, they are classed as a new world monkey. New world monkeys are located around the Americas where as old world monkeys are found around Africa and Asia.
Range
The Common Marmosets are native to the eastern rainforests of Brazil. These small primates can be found in the lush vegetation of the Atlantic Forest.
Diet
Common Marmosets are omnivores, feeding on a diet of fruits, insects, flowers, and tree sap. They have a unique way of gouging tree bark to extract sap.
Lifespan
Common Marmosets have an average lifespan of 8-12 years in the wild and can live up to 16 years in captivity when well cared for.
Conservation Status
These adorable primates are classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. However, habitat loss is a significant threat to their population.
