Animal Welfare

We pride ourselves on our commitment to animal welfare in every aspect of our service. Our keepers work exceptionally hard to ensure our animals are cared for and provided with suitable diets and enrichment.

We proudly hold a Zoo License, passing specialised inspections each year.

Feeding the animals

Bags of animal feed are available in the entrance kiosk for £1 for you to interact with our animals during your visit.

As per the Flintshire council guidelines, all animal feeding is facilitated through chutes into enclosures to minimise stress and potential transfer of bacteria from animal to human.

Animal Handling

Close contact animal experiences can be enjoyable for both visitors and our animals when carried out correctly. We follow all recommendations when it comes to interactions with our animal to minimise stress, and observe our animals throughout encounters to ensure they remain comfortable being present.

Therefore, in our Meet & Greet, animals are not held by members of the public, instead our trained staff hold the animals and carry them around where they can be petted and interacted with in safe hands. Additionally, all of our animals undergo socialisation training prior to being signed off for encounters and are monitored by our staff on the day to ensure they are in the mood for contact (animals can have bad days too!).
